Akari Barista Matcha is a single-cultivar matcha and a testament to craftsmanship and tradition, meticulously cultivated on a fourth-generation, woman-run family farm in the illustrious Uji region of Kyoto, Japan. This verdant sanctuary has long been synonymous with exceptional tea cultivation, and Akari continues this legacy with grace.

Harvested in the spring after four weeks of careful shading, the matcha undergoes an artisanal stone-grinding process, yielding a powder of striking vibrancy, and a lush emerald hue indicative of its unparalleled quality. Upon preparation, Akari unveils an extraordinary creaminess, a mellow sweetness, and a rich umami essence that coalesce into a harmonious tasting experience. Each sip is an invitation to revel in its smooth, refined character, elevating matcha lattes to a work of culinary artistry.

Guided by a steadfast commitment to both sustainability and well-being, Akari is cultivated without the intervention of non-organic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. This dedication ensures a purity that honors both the earth and the individual.

Crafted with the discerning barista in mind, Akari was specifically formulated for specialty cafe matcha lattes, offering an exquisite balance of flavor creating a moment of indulgence in every cup.

How to Make Matcha

Prepare your water by bringing it to a boil and allow it to cool to approximately 140-168 ˚F. This will remove any chlorine that can negatively affect the taste. Sift matcha to remove clumps and create a more mellow flavor. Place 2 chashaku or 2 g of matcha into the chawan bowl. Add 60 mL of your water and whisk vigorously in an “M” or “W” shape until the tea creates a fine creamy foam on the surface. Enjoy!
